The Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) pathway is a psychotherapy training recognised by the Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand (PBANZ). Completing this qualification allows candidates to become provisionally registered with PBANZ.
The ACP is the training pathway run by APANZ, and is open to anyone with a suitable therapy-related background. Candidates can be located anywhere in the country, as the main method of training is weekly training supervision.
Over the years the ACP pathway has been developed and refined, culminating in achieving recognition by PBANZ in 2024 as an accredited psychotherapy training.
We have candidates from Auckland to Otago, we offer a monthly support via zoom for candidates to meet, and other opportunities for training as needed. The main mode of training is through the training supervisory dyad, where close attention to clinical work allows for exploration of skill and thinking, and suggested readings help deepen theoretical knowledge.
Assessments include an initial panel to assess suitability to enter the pathway, a formative assessment to be completed within three years, and final written assessments plus a panel interview for completion.
